I just found out about this free Visual Studio offer, and with that as my motivation for posting, I’ll post a couple of contests too:
You can get a free full copy of Visual Studio 2005 standard (C#, VB.NET, VC++, Web Developer … etc) just for watching three live or on-demand webcasts as part of the ASP.NET 2.0 Webcast Series. It says you must be a proffesional web or software developer, but I don’t know how they would actually go about enforcing that, or how you would prove you really were one.
MIX is the new Microsoft Web Developers conference in Las Vegas. It looks to be really interesting, and they’re giving away free admission to MIX, airfare, and lodging at the Venetian in Las Vegas, as well as a custom designed Xbox 360 … to the top three entries in their CSS remix contest (all you have to do is redecorate the MIX front page using CSS). As a side note: if you’re trying to start a business doing web design, winning this might look pretty good
If you’re a student … TheSpoke is having a contest with an XBox winner every week for 12 weeks … and all you have to do is put together an interesting, useable website in ASP.NET. Plus, they have 3 grand prizes of a 26a?? HD-ready LCD TV.
My copy of VS is on its way
