ActiveWords SE – Free?

By Joel 'Jaykul' Bennett on 08-Jan-2004

Well, if you’ve never read LockerGnome, let me give you a reason: They give away software!

If you have a look at the Windows Fanatics channel on LockerGnome real soon (as in, go ghtere right now), you’ll see at the bottom two specials. The one that got me excited was another giveaway of ActiveWords!

ActiveWords turns any typing into action! For instance, if you type “close” in any application and press the ActiveWords key (F8 is the default) the program closes. But of course, it can also do auto-correction, like what you get in Word, except, in all your programs. And the most important thing is that you can add more commands and auto-corrections on your own. There’s tons of extra features and you get a full license for being a LockerGnome reader. (But only for another 3 days or so). That’s the $19.95 version. Of course you’ll love it, and you may want to try ActiveWords Plus (the $49.95 version) which has scripting built in, it’s really cool. Lockergnome can get you a discount off the full version, if you decide to try it and want to buy it.

About Huddled Masses

This is web site is dedicated to the musings of Joel Bennett (aka Jaykul) about technology, software, software development, the web, and the world.

Any resemblance of the views expressed and the views of my employer, my terminal, or the view out my window are purely coincidental. The resemblance between them and my own views is non-deterministic. The question of the existence of views in the absence of anyone to hold them is left as an exercise for the reader.

P.S.: I occasionally link to things I think are great. When I do, I occasionally find a "referral code" so I can make a little cash. I promise that I don't link to anything just because of that cash (I wouldn't cross the street for the amount of cash those links bring in, never mind write a whole blog post) ... but I do not promise that things I link to will stay great as time passes, nor that you will agree with me about their greatness!
