Well, after I messed around with BlinkList a bit … I really like it, except for one thing:
When they imported my bookmarks.html (which, as I previously mentioned, has over 3000 bookmarks) they used every word in the name of each bookmark as a “tag,” along with the name of the folder the bookmark was in, but not any up-level folders.
The result is that instead of 2917 links, and 266 tags (one for each folder I have) I got 4000+ tags … to the point where most links have a unique tag and … well, lets just say it was a bit over-the-top. I found similar problems at Simpy and Furl …
My solution is to convert my bookmarks to a delicious-format xml file, which specifies the tags explicitly. Of course, I wasn’t about to do that by hand, so I created an XSLT sheet to do it, using each nested folder as a tag. The only problem with that was that firefox inexplicably uses a retarded html2-era format for bookmarks.html, so I had to rely on the bookmarks synchronizer to convert my bookmarks to an XML format called XBEL, and then work from that. Without further ado, here’s my XBEL to Delicious (You’ll want to right-click and save-as).
